Bamboo Palm Tree- Chamaedorea microspadix

The Bamboo Palm Tree is a small tree rarely growing beyond 7 feet in height. The trunk of the Bamboo Palm Tree is segmented like bamboo plants, yet the leaves resemble the feather-like palm tree leaves colored medium green and with maturity develop a silvery luster. The trunks readily divide like bamboo plants or European Fan Palm clusters and Pygmy Date Palm Trees. The clumps of Bamboo Palm plants grow moderately in the shade, but they dislike full sun and display leaf-burn in full sunshine. The origin of the Bamboo Palm plants is from the tropical forests of Mexico, deeply shaded.

The Bamboo Palm plants are tough and rugged in nature, surviving in droughts but tolerating heavy rainy seasons. Perhaps, its most notable characteristic is its cold hardy survival in 15 degree F temperatures. The Bamboo Palm Tree is an excellent choice for potting for the tropical look near pools, courtyards and patios. The Bamboo Palm plant produces bright orange berries that droop in clusters and illuminate the plant. The Bamboo Palm Tree is excellent to plant outside in open gardens of the South or to containerize in the North for offices or inside sunrooms.
