The Cavendish banana tree can be grown commercially in deep southern and tropical areas of the United States. The Cavendish banana is commonly known in south Florida as the “Lady finger” banana and can bear as many as 90 fruits on one plant. The male flowers do not fall away from the pollinated fruit of the Cavendish, a characteristic exclusive to this variety. Few desserts compare to this delicious split banana covered with ice cream.
