Elberta Peach Tree

Alternative Views:

Elberta peach tree, Prunus persica 'Elberta'  The  Elberta peach tree was named and introduced by Colonel Lewis Rumph of Marshallville, Georgia after his wife, whose name was Elberta Rumph in 1870.  This Elberta peach tree eventually made Georgia famously known as the 'Peach State”, along with his other peach introduction,' Bell of Georgia'.  The Elberta peach is huge in size, orange-yellow in color with a sugary firm flavor and an agreeable fragrance.  This juicy texture is melting when completely ripe in late June or July, and this peach variety has set the highest standard for commercial and home-grown peach orchards to follow.

Tree doesn't have much root and I'm not sure
it will live. I planted promptly ( one hour after it arrived) and will see.
