The Fuji apple is a fall ripening apple that ripens at an early age meaning that this an excellent Southern selection; the fruit keeps well under refrigeration. This variety of apple is so highly prized in Japan that other apple imports are almost non-existent and in Washington state alone, 135,000 tons of Red Fuji apples were produced last year.
