Alternative Views:

The Smyrna quince tree, Cydonia oblonga 'Smyrna',  is an ancient hand-me-down quince cultivar that  was imported from its city namesake in Turkey.  The Smyrna quince trees are grown commercially, and the quinces are marketed in National supermarkets from October until the end of the Christmas season.  The Smyrna quince is very cold hardy and can be grown in most of the United States.
